Well, I really blew it on the blogging. Can't lie, I think about this baby often. I've written about 17 back in the game posts and hidden them away. The computer flips open, my determination flags, and with a quick snap of the wrist I'm back to ignoring this thing I love that haunts me. Oh, Becoming a Badass blog! What happened to us?
Here's the sad, sad truth. I got bored. Don't worry, the badassing has continued. I skied 109 days this winter. Been mountain biking like a champ. I've lost toe nails, gotten frost bite, been covered with bruises and bashes, and narrowly escaped breaking my ass. The thrill is gone, though. Thing is, I'm a badass now. Not professionally, not like some of the badasses I'm surrounded with, but generally, I'm pretty badass. Badass everyday, like part of a routine. I'm so bored with myself that I can't bring myself to tell you about it.
Damn! I've gone dry again. Here I am, sitting on a couch covered in the skin of a wild buffalo and I was about to flip the dang computer shut again. Put this post off to another day. NO! This post is going up.
Essentially, I'm working on the complete badass project right now: physical, mental, work, relationships, travel, family, love, food, religion. I'm on the hunt for something exciting to share. Right now, I'm stuck on a buffalo skin blanket. Gonna get on my bike and see if inspiration strikes. This ain't over.

I missed a day. I'm gonna treat this like an intense work-out routine from Men's Health magazine and take a week off.

The Big Answers
Are you eating right?
Have you gotten enough sleep?
The most important thing I learned in college was that changing the answer to these two questons to yes's is the key to solving 90% of you problems. Every maternal figure in my life eventually asked me these questions when I came to them for help. This is some early stage badass advice. Pretty much, eating right and sleeping will stop you from crying, an important step in toughening up.

Sit Ski Inspiration
The high today is 1 degree and when I went out skiing it was 7 degrees but felt like negative 15. Very short day on the slopes. Since we are both still feeling sick, my boyfriend and I lazed around and watched some ski porn. It's not sexual and it ain't dirty. Ski porn is the local term for ski movies. Warren Miller's Dynasty had an amazing section on disabled skiers in the X games. There are dudes (and I would guess women, though they weren't shown) who sit-ski in X game competitions. They are sitting on a seat on a single ski, with two little skies on poles for their arms. I've seen some of this around the mountain here and it blows my mind. This type of skiing has become my new obsession, out fascinating even people who ski with babies. These are people who have lost the use of there legs but still are extremely active. They are really proving the no excuses way of life. One of the dudes has a great moment where he says, "My life is better than your vacation." Gotta love that attitude. To think I was mopping around the house because it's too cold out.

Sick
I've been sick for about a month now. Can't help but think that throwing my body down a mountain in 16 degree weather isn't the path to wellness. This was my 55th day of skiing though and I can tell that I'm improving. The predicted high for tomorrow is 4 degrees. Next winter I'm giving my self a surfing challenge. This is just too cold.

My Dad
My dad turns 61 today and is out cross-country skiing. He is his most active self since high school. Now he gets all day recess. Thanks for making 60 and retirement look so good, dad.

Shakira Skiing
I've finally incorporated my Shakira hip moves into my skiing. Thank God all that time watching YouTube videos has finally come to fruition.
